eriksnoeijsHi, i was looking for PHP code samples and found some on this page http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Ingres_Examples  But the link redirects to an apparently empty directory structure.20:23
eriksnoeijsI've just installed the ingres community version 9.3,  I did a full install and answered all the questions it asks. I now have a running instance of ingres. However i can't seem to find the client utility to communicate with it. (well i don't know what it's called).21:20
pboroyou can you isql21:22
pborouse isql even21:22
eriksnoeijsAha, thanks.21:23
pboro"isql databasename", then you can type sql commands and execute them21:23
pborocreatedb command can be used for creating databases and so on, the documentation is available at http://docs.ingres.com21:23
eriksnoeijsyeah, i was trying to follow a quick start pdf. It told me to include a auto-created shell script to include some env variables. But it didn't actually tell me what the application was.21:25
pborook... the command reference contains a listing and descriptions of all command line tools21:26
pborohttp://docs.ingres.com/Ingres/9.3/Command%20Reference%20Guide/docindex.htm21:27
pborothere's a direct url for it21:27
eriksnoeijsthanks21:27
pboroyou know that 9.3 is still in alpha stage?21:29
pboro9.2 is the latest "stable"21:29
eriksnoeijsno didn't knew. Thanks. I'll beter get 9.2 then. Trying to review ingres to see if we (the company i work at) can use it.21:31
eriksnoeijshmmm it seems there isn't a ingres 9.2 build for 64bit linux.   and the commercial version doesn't even have any 64-bit linux releases.  Am i simply looking in the wrong spot, or?21:37
pborono you're not, the 64-bit version has not yet been released21:38
pboroit's planned for next month, there's still some issues that are being fixed21:38

eriksnoeijsah, ok. I'll just cook up a 32bit image then.  Most servers will definitely be 64bit though :)21:39
pboroyou could try 32-bit version instead, there software is the same on both platforms21:39
pboroyeah, I'm waiting for 64-bit version too, currently running 32-bit version but it's limited to 4 GB memory...21:39
pboro"the software" even, I'm way too tired to irc...21:41
eriksnoeijs:) It sounds promising though. read the wiki and it sports a lot of impressive features (when coming from mysql).21:43
pborohehe yeah, mysql (when using myisam storage engine) doesn't provide much of relational database properties21:55
pborowith innodb storage engine it's a bit better, but still behind real rdbmses21:55
