pboroOn page http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Community_Build_Page there's a mention about gcc_s.patch, but the link doesn't work. Anyone has that?01:23
pboroah... wrong ld in use01:26
pboroah, no difference01:26
pboroshlink_opts or something has to be modified in src/tools/port/shell_unix/shlibinfo.sh but trying to figure how01:29
pboroah, apparently it was enough to remove explicit linking with gcc_s01:30
pborognah, no...01:38

pboroAlex|, it was pretty easy to compile 64-bit ingres on openSUSE 11.1 after figuring out what opensuse packages had to be installed and some adjustments to the build environment10:59
pboronext I'm trying to figure how to run the tests10:59
pboroah...  'and should NOT report any targets as "failed" or "skipped"' and I had 118 skipped targets11:01
Alex|good to hear :)11:01
pboro"buildrel -a" says that "113 files not found.  Display them?", looks like some ucharmaps are missing11:02
Alex|there's probably one failed target as well then and the skipped ones depend on that11:02
pborono failed targets, I even used "jam -q"11:02
pborolemme re-run11:03
Alex|unfortunatly -q doesn't stop in all cases... not sure why11:03
pboroah, ok11:03
pboroahh...11:03
Alex|you sure xerces was ok? I think I once had problems with ucharmaps because of xerces-c11:03
pborodon't know how to make libxerces-c.so.25.011:04
pborodon't know how to make lp32/libxerces-c.so.25.011:04
Alex|yup11:04
pboroeven I changed bldenv to use 28, hmh11:04
pboroI guess it's defined elsewhere too11:04
Alex|src/front/st/specials_unix_vms/sharelib.ccpp?11:04
pboroat least that yes11:05
Alex|that's the other file I patched for my gentoo ebuild11:05
pborodo I have to run mkjams again to get the change working?11:06
Alex|no, just run jam again11:06
pborostill "don't know how to make...", I'll try egreping it11:06
Alex|look for XERCVERS11:07
Alex|src/tools/port/jam/Jamdefs around line 2070 -> XERCESCLIB = libxerces-c.$(SLSFX).$(XERCVERS).011:07
Alex|this is probably set to 2511:07
pboroyeah that's right, I'll fix that11:08
pboroit works now, thanks :)11:09
pboroI'll have to put up a patch for 9.2 and OpenSUSE 11.1 for ppl to download11:09
Alex|the xerces stuff is true for all distributions... but there is not one solution for all, especially when it comes to unix platforms11:10
pborothere's also problem with bitops.h (it's been removed in openSUSE 11.1) and Jamfile for pax, so a patch is easiest for a howto11:11
pborooh, and incorrect gcc_s linking11:12
Alex|if your distri has a pax package you should be able to use this and not compile the ingres one11:12
pborooh, the INSTALL file told that Ingres needs a special pax11:14
pborosomething like distro's pax is fine for packaging the build but doesn't work correctly for checkpoints11:15
Alex|the packaged one has a patch that allows archives greater than 4gb... that comment is years old.. I don't think that limit is still true for pax11:15
pborooh, hehe :) ok11:15
pborobtw anyone know if there's a "cleaner" way of installing 32-bit xerces on openSUSE 11.1 than manually extracting the rpm and copying the files?12:06
pboroif i simply download the 32-bit xerces rpms and try to install them, rpm insists that the package is already installed12:06
pboro"package libXerces-c-devel-2.8.0-29.37.x86_64 (which is newer than libXerces-c-devel-2.8.0-29.28.i586) is already installed"12:07
pboroapparently it doesn't understand that they are different12:07
pboroah... rpm -i --force does the job12:37

pboroAlex|, btw, does gentoo ebuild work on 64-bit too?15:17
pboroah, zypper knows format "zypper install package.platform", for example "zypper install libXerces-c28.i586"16:03
pborooops, not platform but arch16:04
