GerhardHi all, is there a command line switch for isql to directy load an sql file?05:28
GerhardLike "isql dbname myscript.sql"05:28
Alex|<05:33
Alex|isql dbname < file ?05:33

*** Gerhard has joined #ingres05:45
Gerhardwill try <05:45
GerhardUnfortunately, < does not work for isql as it does for sql05:47
Dejannew ingres has script statement05:49
Dejanor something like that05:49
Dejani have forgotten ...05:49
GerhardDejan, which release precisely?05:59
DejanGerhard: 10 i think05:59
*** toumi01 has joined #ingres06:00
Dejani hate when i forget those things...06:02
Dejanit was on forum06:02
Dejana thread was about exporting csv file06:02
Dejandirectly from isql06:02
grantc\script is for logging like "script" in Unix/Linux06:03
grantchttp://ingres.pastebin.com/d226ccd7a - that was taken from the current svn code06:03
Dejangrantc: it is some command06:04
grantci guess you are looking for "\i" or "\include"06:04
Dejani cannot remember which one...06:04
Dejanbut \i would do i suppose06:04
GerhardI think that \i is for sql and not for isql, right?06:05
withdefaultIs the csv output this one? http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Terminal_Monitor_Silent_Mode06:06
Dejanwithdefault: THAT ONE!06:06
Dejantyyyyy06:06
*** rossand has joined #ingres06:06

withdefaultthat's for terminal monitor (sql) - I don't think it will work with isql06:07
Dejanthere was a thread about it06:07

[1]GerhardNow back to the ISQL problem. I often do06:12
[1]Gerhardisql dbname06:13
[1]Gerhardthen hit ESC key...06:13
[1]Gerhardtype "file" <ENTER>06:13
[1]Gerhardhit <shift><f2>06:14
[1]Gerhardtype in complete path to sql file <ENTER>06:14
[1]Gerhardso the question again: any easier way to do this?06:14
Dejansql ?06:21
Dejansql < path/filename06:21
[1]Gerhardanother question: in Ingres 9.2, there is a new funtion trunc / truncate. How can I truncate a float after the decimal in Ingres release prior to 9.2?06:22
[1]GerhardDejan, yes I know "sql dbname < myfile.sql". But for most ad-hoc querying I prefer ISQL over SQL as you can scroll through the result set left / right and up / down.06:25
Dejantrue :(06:26
Dejani use squirrel-sql if i need something like that06:26
Dejanisql is great, but i use many different terminals, and i got sick of setting them all over again06:26

GerhardSquirrel SQL = free?06:35
withdefaultit's open source http://squirrel-sql.sourceforge.net/06:37
Dejanyeah06:37
withdefaultanyone know if the Ingres plugin for SQuirreL SQL made it into the wild?06:41
Dejani do not have it06:43
Dejani just use iijdbc.jar06:43
withdefaultDejan, I believe that there was an experimental plug-in that performs some dba functions in addition to the regular querying06:53

stephenbdejan: It might look like I'm on all the time, but I just leave myself connected to see the chat (my machine remains on 24x7). In fact I'm only reliably here between 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM Australian eastern time (which is the middle of the nught for most people); so I never see any realtime chat (which is why I have not been connected for some time)15:39
stephenbit's now 8:40 AM here15:40
stephenbThe only "realtime" chat I'll see is anything posted in the next 8 hourse (which is virtually always nothing at all)15:42
