Vroomfondlegrantc: still can't figure out where on earth to set the env var in order to do an API trace, but it appears that that "error 7" warning only appears if I switch autocommit off and try to do multiple queries in a transaction. The driver then handles the first query fine but gets upset when it tries to process the second.03:36
grantcVroomfondle: http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Ingres_with_Apache_on_Redhat_Enterprise_Linux has some generic information on the environment variables (see section 5)03:38
grantccan you run the script from the command line? it might be easier to get the trace that way03:38
Vroomfondlenot really - it needs POST vars03:41
Vroomfondlebut I shall persevere03:42

FrankWcthibert, atrofast: I'm seeking advice on how to rebuild and update my ingres install with changes to aduspatial.c without too much extra stuff being built.10:13
FrankWI'm also interested in advice on how to enable logging so that I can see TRdisplay() results.10:13
atrofastFrankW: What I usually do is use jam in ING_ROOT/src to rebuild changed files then go to my install dir/ingres/bin and remove iimerge and add a ln -s /path/to/ING_ROOT/build/bin/iimerge iimerge10:15
atrofastI think using runbuild.sh will work the same10:15
cthibertHi FrankW.  I can help with the logging.  export II_DBMS_LOG=/path/to/a/logfile.  This will enable TRdisplay.  If you're looking for existing logs, some may require define statements.  But if you're looking to see your own logs, then as long as the II_DBMS_LOG env var is defined when ingres is started, it will write to that file.10:17
cthibertThe buildtools/test_env.sh is exports that var all the time.  But if you have another environment setup file, you can add it to that before running ingstart.10:19
FrankWok, guys that is great.  I'll try that all out.10:22
FrankWDo you do the jam build from server/src? or can it be done lower to reduce the amount of stuff that is rebuilt?10:22
* FrankW sees that atrofast already indicated doing the jam build from /src. 10:23

atrofastFrankW: I actually have no idea if you can... sometimes I find that even one file change in ADF rebuilds about 3000 targets... There must be some other dependencies set up so it's always "safer" to do it from ING_SRC10:25
FrankWyes, I also am finding that a change in aduspatial.c rebuilds what seems like a ridiculous amount of stuff.10:26
Dejanbye everybody10:38

FrankWWhen I run "ingstop" I am still seeing processes like this running:11:38
FrankWwarmerda 31242  0.0  0.8  79448 25204 pts/3    Sl   14:28   0:00 /home/warmerda/ingres/server/install/II/ingres/bin/iidbms recovery (dmfrcp) II11:38
FrankWWhy might that be?11:38
FrankWI'm not updates from rebuilds reflected in the behavior of the server, and I'm wonder if it is because of these processes which are not cleaned up.11:39
* FrankW brutally kill -9's them all.11:42
FrankWthat didn't help.11:49
FrankWI'm reduced to doing a clean build.11:50

atrofastFrankW: If you do the ln -s iimerge trick I said I should've mentioned you should ingstop before recompiling, then ingstart after compile is done14:05
